In true storybook fashion, Sandy Koufax’s finest moment came during the deciding Game 7 of the 1965 World Series. At this point in his career, Sandy Koufax had dominated the National League for four astounding seasons, winning two Cy Young Awards, an NL MVP Award, and the pitching Triple Crown twice. But all this came at a price – Koufax’s arm was failing due to traumatic arthritis. Pitching through blinding pain, Koufax still pitched the Dodgers to the 1965 pennant. Facing the Minnesota Twins in the World Series, Koufax lost Game 2 but won Game 5. Then, with the two teams tied at three games apiece, Koufax came back on two days rest to pitch Game 7. Pitching on sheer determination through terrible pain, Koufax shutout the Twins on three hits. Koufax won his second World Series MVP Award and went down as one of the greatest World Series pitchers of all-time.

This beautifully composed 8" x 10" action shot shows Koufax during his follow through, the look of concentration perfectly captured on his face. The Type 1 photo shows light wear with some corner rounding. There are some surface abrasions but nothing compromising to the artistry of the image.

The photo has been encapsulated and graded an Authentic Type 1 by PSA.
