Exceptional condition 1914 "Miracle" Boston Braves press pin worn by the writers covering the World Series between the Boston Braves and Philadelphia Athletics for the games played at Fenway Park.(The Braves South End Grounds were too small for the huge crowds so the games were moved to the larger recently opening home of the Red Sox) In 1914 the Boston Braves put together one of the most incredible seasons in baseball history. They began their season by losing 18 of their first 22 games right on pace for a last place finish. By July 4 1914 after losing both games of a doubleheader to the Brooklyn Dodgers they were still in last place with a record of 26-40 15 games behind the first place Giants. After a day off they put together a tremendous hot streak going 41-12 to insert themselves right into the middle of the pennant race. By early September they had caught the front running New York Giants and moved into first place. They caught fire again and finished the season going 25-6 to take the National League title. They are the only team in National League history to win a pennant after being in last place on the Fourth of July. Despite their amazing comeback the Braves entered the World Series as heavy underdogs to Connie Mack's American League Champion Philadelphia Athletics. The Braves continued their hot streak in the World Series as they swept the Athletics 4 straight to take the World Championship. This was the first sweep in World Series history. Press pin is in truly exceptional condition with the relief image of an early American Indian at the center as crisp as the day it was made and not a flaw to the delicate blue enamel surrounding the lettering "WORLD SERIES BRAVES 1914". Threaded post on the back has the pin's maker "BENT & BUSH BOSTON MASS." engraved on top of designer nut that screws into post. An awesome collectible in beautiful condition marking one of the most remarkable seasons in baseball history!
