The original Yankee Stadium the baseball cathedral synonymous with the game's biggest names and iconic moments dimmed its lights for good on Sept. 21st 2008 amid a flood of memories and emotion. The stadium was nicknamed "The House That Ruth Built" in homage to Babe Ruth upon its opening in 1923. The so-called "cathedral of baseball" with its famous 12ft high letters spelling out its name went on to become home to 26 World Series-winning teams. The enthusiasm of stadium souvenir hunters has a special fervor when it comes to Yankee Stadium given the unique place the it holds in American sports history. Offered here is one of the more interesting artifacts weve seen that was extracted from the hallowed ballpark through the years.

This is an actual glass ticket window sign from the original Yankee Stadium. The 33 1/2-by 3 3/4-inch glass sign is black with distinctive gold lettering saying "Yankee Stadium" and in smaller - also all capital letters below - "Tickets." The impact is compelling evoking the excitement one must have felt as they approached the window to purchase access to the wonders of baseballs most famous ballpark. The entire piece is attractively framed in black metal to overall dimensions of 34-by-4 inches.
