Featured here is Hall of Fame legend Lawrence Taylor's game worn helmet from the early 1990's. "LT" spent his entire 13-year career (1981-93) with the New York Giants and took home two Super Bowl rings. From his rookie year in 1981 to 1990 Taylor made the Pro Bowl every season and was voted 1st team All-Pro 8 times. But stats do not tell the story of the most intimidating and dominant outside linebacker ever. Just ask any quarterback (esp. Joe Theismann) that had to stand in the pocket with this freight train breathing down his neck. His off-the-field antics have been well-documented but nobody has ever denied his talent and passion for the game. Many so-called experts and former players and coaches believe that in his prime 'LT" was the best defensive player in NFL history.

This Schutt 'AiR' model helmet employs the brand's interior foam cushion and air bladder padding system. The blue shell with two white 'GIANTS' logo decals and a red stripe down the middle shows undeniable game use throughout full of gashes scratches paint transfers and other contact marks rubbed off from anyone that dared get in Taylor's path. There is a significant gash on the 'N' of the right decal. The white-coated facemask with a full cage of bars is completely intact along with the original white chinstrap and ear pad clips both exhibiting clear evidence of use. Inside next to the left earhole in black pen is "215-CL 56". A 'GIANTS' sticker covers the 'AiR' model logo on the front bumper; the leather flap extension to provide better comfort between the forehead has come dislodged from the interior cushioning. Taylor's number '56' sticker appears on the rear of the shell surrounded by the NFL shield logo and warning label. Taylor has signed the upper right side of the shell in beautiful 10/10 silver paint pen with a "56 N.Y.C." inscription. Overall the helmet is problem-free and largely as-issued an extraordinary piece of game-use from one of best football players ever.

Includes a letter of provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
