This Botafogo home jersey from the early 1970's was match-worn and signed by the great Jairzinho during his iconic tenure with the Rio de Janeiro club. From 1962-74, the star winger/striker tallied 186 goals in 416 matches for Botafogo, coinciding with a long, successful run on the Brazil National Team (1964-82) where he scored 33 goals in 81 caps.

Made by Penalty, a São Paulo based sporting goods manufacturer, the shirt is constructed in a sturdy cotton/polyester blend fabric in Botafogo's traditional black and white equal-width vertical stripe pattern, with alternating stripes running the full length of the body and the sleeves. The neckline is finished as a simple V-neck design with a matching black trim strip integrated into the garment and no separate collar piece. The Botafogo club crest — a black and white shield bearing a single star — is applied to the left chest as a woven or embroidered patch. The manufacturer label at the interior neck reads "Penalty" with the Penalty brand's wave logo, establishing this as a genuine Brazilian sportswear issue of the period.

The number "7" appears on the reverse in bold black lettering applied directly to the white ground of the jersey, a numerically significant detail associated with Jairzinho's position. The player has signed on the right chest in faded black ink that is still perfectly legible. The jersey shows honest age and wear consistent with a 1970s-era match-worn piece, including light surface soiling and general fabric aging appropriate to over fifty years of preservation.
