Few names in Real Madrid history carry the weight of Francisco "Paco" Gento, the electrifying left winger whose pace and tenacity helped Los Blancos claim six European Cups (now UEFA Champions League). This early 1960's long-sleeve home model jersey was worn by Gento in the prime of his storied career — a period when Real Madrid was synonymous with European dominance.
Known as "La Galerna del Cantábrico" (The Gale of the Cantabrian Sea) for his blazing speed down the sidelines, Gento is considered by many the greatest true winger in history. The IFFHS (International Federation of Football History and Statistics) voted him Spain's greatest footballer (and 30th greatest in the world) of the 20th century. In a glory-filled Real Madrid tenure that lasted an incredible 18 seasons (1953-71), he scored 182 goals in 600 matches, won a record 12 La Liga titles, and appeared in a joint-record eight European Cup finals. In his 14-year international career (1955-69), Gento earned 43 caps for Spain and played in two World Cups. Following the death of his longtime Real Madrid teammate Alfredo Di Stéfano in 2014, Gento was appointed the Honorary President of Real Madrid.
The creamy white, long-sleeve shirt is made of 100% cotton by Mont-Halt, a Spanish apparel brand owned by the former president of FC Barcelona that fitted several La Liga clubs at that time. The classic Madrid Football Club (MFC) crest is embroidered on the left chest. The reverse has the Argentine’s No. “11” in large blue numerals. The thick heavyweight shirt has a ribbed crew neck and ribbed sleeve ends. It is properly tagged in the inner collar with a vintage Mont-Halt label (no size indicated) and exhibits visible wear throughout in the form of fabric pilling and soil staining near the tail, plus one small hole on the sleeve. Includes letter of authenticity from MEARS describing the level of use as "heavy."

This jersey comes from one of the most impressive vintage football collections known to exist. Once a star amateur player, the collector worked as a scout for multiple clubs and national teams, prospecting young football talent across the globe. Through his experience and unique connections, he procured almost every item directly from players or kitmen.
