Baseball Hall of Famer Don Drysdale pitched 14 seasons with the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers from 1956 to 1969 but also served his country as a U.S. Army Reserves between October of 1957 and April of 1958. The then-21-year-old went through basic training exercises at Fort Dix in New Jersey before rejoining the Dodgers for the 58 campaign when he fanned 131 batters on his way to registering 12 wins. This lot features Drysdales U.S. Army metal dog tags as well as three small brass keys that must have used for his foot locker while he was away. Both dog tags indicate that Drysdale was a Baptist. An unusual vintage keepsake from the life of one of Major League Baseballs greatest pitchers in history.
