In 1962 L.A. Dodgers right-hander Don Drysdale turned in a phenomenal season in which he not only the league in wins (25) strikeouts (232) and innings pitched (314.1) but was named to his fourth National League All-Star Team. He started for the Senior Circuit in fact and pitched three innings worth of shutout ball and struck out three A.L. All-Stars. The National League eventually prevailed 3-1.
This lot offers Don Drysdales July 10 1962 MLB All-Star Game Participatory Award. The 17 tall specially engraved and decorative silver-plated samovar (coffee urn) measures 11 wide and has the following text engraved on the front: MLB All-Star Game July 10th 1962 Don Drysdale. The base of the samovar which is heavily tarnished even boasts a small warming tray for a can of Sterno.
