As prolific a pitcher as he was Hall of Famer Don Drysdale also carried a steady bat whenever he strode to home plate. In 1965 in fact he led the Los Angeles Dodgers in hitting with a .300 batting average that included seven home runs. This lot features Drysdale's circa 1960's game-worn windbreaker jacket. The blue nylon jacket was worn by "Big D" several times throughout the years whenever he made it to first base or beyond. During the entire decade of the '60s Drysdale recorded 174 hits so he reached base often.

The Dodger Blue jacket appears pretty non-descript although it does include the proper Butwin manufacturer's tagging - "The Jacket for Champions" - on the inside front left tail alongside a washing instructions tag. The inside rear collar sports a large white nylon tag that includes Drysdale's uniform number "53" in black marker. There is no Dodgers insignia or logo anywhere on the jacket but this is in fact Drysdale's game-worn windbreaker direct from his private collection. All six original blue snap buttons and blue draw cord remain intact. The jacket shows plenty of game use with dirt staining and fraying at the seams making it likely that it was a favorite of Don's during windy summer evenings at the ballpark. Adding to the authenticity of the jacket is the pack of Winston matches in the side pocket.

Includes LOA from the Drysdale Family.
