Very unique piece of artwork made for Don Drysdale at the end of his playing career. In 1969 artist Robert Ewing created this mummified stick-figure rendition of a right-handed pitcher presumably Drysdale in mid wind-up using material that resembles a compound mixture of metal wire and graphite. Entitled "53" for Drysdale's jersey number the 15" tall sculpture stands one-legged on a solid black square (4" x 4" x 3") base. The artist's name the title of the piece are inscribed on a gold nameplate. It is fully intact but quite fragile and a few sections of the narrow limbs show signs of cracking.
