The Boston Red Sox ended their 1986 regular season with an impressive 95-66 record, enough wins to be the best in the American League. They met the California Angels in the ALCS, which proved to be an extremely tough battle, as the Red Sox found themselves in a 3-1 hole after four games. During game five, Boston once again was on the verge of losing the series, down 5-2 entering the ninth inning. They were able to stay alive with the help of a Dave Henderson sacrifice fly, allowing Don Baylor to score the game winning run. The Red Sox ended the series victorious in an 8-1 game seven win at Fenway Park on October 15th, 1986. Highlighted here is Hall of Famer Don Baylor’s 1986 Boston Red Sox A.L. Championship Ring that he received for their victory over the Angels. Baylor played well during the series, racking up nine hits, six runs, two RBI’s, and one home run. The 10K gold ring features the Boston “B” logo filled with 15 diamonds, surrounded by a beautiful red ruby-hued stone. The face of the ring reads “AMERICAN LEAGUE” and “CHAMPIONS.” The left shank depicts an image of Fenway Park along with “1986”, “RED SOX-4 ANGELS-3” and “FENWAY PARK.” The right shank reads “BAYLOR” above the Boston Red Sox crest. Below the crest is “25”. The inner band of the ring is engraved “LG8” and “10K”. Weighs in at 33 grams and size 13. Don Baylor’s championship ring is in near mint condition, with virtually no blemishes visible with the naked eye. Included with the ring is its original wood and red felt presentation box that reads “BOSTON RED SOX” and “A.L. CHAMPS 1986.” This lot is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the Baylor Family.
