The legendary Cardinals ace Dizzy Dean added his flawless signature to this 6-1/2" by 3-5/8" commemorative First Day Cover. The legendary Hall of Famer's autograph was the perfect finishing touch to this philatelic gem which at the time of signing was already equipped with a block of four U.S. Baseball Centennial 3¢ postage stamps a Cooperstown New York First Day cancel (dated June 12 1939) and an ornate left-side cachet. The relief-embossed cachet is a marvel in its own right with a Centennial emblem and a 1" x 1-5/16" photograph of Abner Doubleday at the center of a patriotic flag and shield backdrop. An extremely attractive piece in NM overall condition. Encapsulated “AUTHENTIC” by PSA/DNA.
