Being a renowned Yankees' memorabilia collector himself David Wells no doubt greatly appreciated the high-quality commemorative 10K gold rings that were issued by jewelry manufacturer Balfour in honor of his 1998 Perfect Game. Wells who once sported an actual Babe Ruth game-worn cap on the mound while pitching for his beloved Yanks blanked the Minnesota Twins 4-0 on May 17 1998 to earn his place as baseball's 13th pitcher of perfection in Major League history. Ruth has always been the burly pitcher's favorite player (he even once asked team officials if he could wear the Babe's long-retired uniform No. 3 during game play!) so it must please Wells to no end to see the stately image of "The House That Ruth Built" featured prominently on one of the ring's shanks seated directly above the date ("5/17/98") when Wells' achieved perfection within view of its fabled facade. And of course to see the opposite shank display his multi-zeroed box score above the hallowed "NY" insignia. Atop the striking Near-Mint condition ring is a baseball infield design crowned with a small real diamond at each corner base and a much larger real diamond at the center. The perimeter reads "PERFECT GAME 1998" in raised lettering. This actual ring was given to teammate Homer Bush; Bush is engraved in all caps on the interior of the band with Balfour 10K nearby. Comes in a grey felt jewelry box; all elements of the ring appear to be in essentially as-issued condition though the box is a bit misshapen and some of the lettering of Balfour is missing from the inside of the top of it. Ring size 10 ¾. Weight 26 grams.
