The Atlantic Coast Conference commemorated its 50th anniversary in 2003 and marked the event by a number of special events not the least of which was the selection of the ACC's Top 50 Male Athletes over that span. David Thompson who helped catapult the North Carolina State men's basketball team into the national spotlight in the mid-1970's would have been one of the easiest choices for the selection committee a slam-dunk if you will begging forgiveness for the hardly inadvertent ironic allusion. This is Thompson's trophy from that gala celebration a weighty 4 1/2 lbs. of crystal 11 inches high with an ACC 50th anniversary logo at the top and "David Thompson NC State Basketball Top Male Athlete March 12 2003" engraved at the front of the 4-by-5-inch base.
The award appears to be in essentially as-issued and problem-free condition; come with a Letter of Authenticity from David Thompson.
