At the end of a third season that likely placed David Thompson as the greatest player in Atlantic Coast Conference history - at the time - Thompson upped the ante and was named the 1975 Sporting News College Player of the Year by virtue of his 29.9 ppg scoring average and 8.2 rebounds per game. In recognition of that amazing senior year The Sporting News presented Thompson with this elegant Bulova 10Kt gold watch; on the back of the watch is the engraving: The Sporting News David Thompson College Basketball Player of the Year 1975. Encircling the back of the watch face are small engravings that read: "10Kt Rolled Gold Plate Back" on one side and "Gold Electroplate Bezel" on the other. On the watch face near the 6 p.m. location is a small stone that appears to be a diamond. The gold face and band appear to be essentially in as-issued and problem free with virtually no wear visible on the face and only minute traces on the band. Included is a 4-inch-square red presentation box with small white pillow used t0o showcase the watch.
Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from David Thompson.
