After winning All-State honors twice, Clyde Lovellette’s senior year at Terre Haute, Indiana’s Garfield High was capped off by his garnering the second most votes in the state’s “Mr. Basketball” voting (future Indiana University star Bob Masters received the top honors). The top winners of the vote were selected to represent Indiana in the annual High School All-Stars game against Kentucky.

Unlike other years, in 1948 the two-team played just a single contest, held that year at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Coliseum in front of 11,000 people. Lovellette was the high scorer for the game with 19 points as Indiana downed Kentucky, 70-47.

Worn during that High School All-Star game, the white home jersey has “INDIANA” above three stars, all in blue tackle twill. The arm and neck openings are trimmed in blue ribbing and Lovellette’s special Indiana All-Stars number “2” is on the back in blue tackle twill. The number "2" is significant because it indicated his ranking in the "Mr. Basketball" voting.

The jersey shows awesome game use with toning from age along with some light staining, particularly in the lower portion of the front. The matching white shorts have duel blue trim down the sides and leg openings. A white integral belt is still attached and Wilson label is sewn inside the waistband with a size “38” hang tag affixed. The shorts show good game use with some toning and abrasions throughout. A great example of a very rare uniform set, worn by the future NBA Hall of Famer as a high school star.

Accompanied by an LOA from the family of Clyde Lovellette.
