From the personal collection of Christian Laettner comes thisgame-worn jersey from his one and only NBA All-Star appearance in 1997.The Duke basketball legend and famed 1992 Olympic Dream Team member wasdrafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1992 and spent five seasons inthe Land of 10000 Lakes before being traded to the Atlanta Hawks in1996. He averaged 18.1 points and a career-high 8.8 rebounds per contest in his firstfull season with the Hawks in '96-97 to earn the All-Star nod inCleveland. Laettner scored seven points and grabbed 11 rebounds in 24 minutes of action to help the Eastern Conference knock off the West 132-120.
Laettner andMutombo were the only Hawks on the East quad and both sported their team's home white uniforms for the game. Their jerseys were the only ones with the '97 All-Star patchsewn above the left chest and gold NBA logo above the right chest;everyone else had those patches reversed. (See Getty 56634480 for the team photo.) Laettner's white mesh jersey has a large Hawks logo screen-printed across the front with black gold and red trim around the neck and armpits. "HAWKS" on the front "LAETTNER" on the upper back and his No. "32" front and back all come in red-on-gold tackle twill. On the front left tail is the appropriate Champion size 52 manufacturer's tagging withwashing instructions. Adjacent is a "Designed & Tailored 96 97 Exclusively for ATLANTA HAWKS" and 3” EXTRA BODY LENGTH label. Inside the left inseam is the 100% Polyester materialstag. Laettner has signed the right chest area with the inscriptions "32" and "97 ALL-STAR game" in 9/10 black marker.
The matching white mesh shorts have the red Hawks design down the left side with No. "32" in white with gold and black outline. The gold NBA logo is opposite side on the right leg. Appropriate Champion size 44 manufacturer's tagging withwashing instructions is found inside the rear waistband. Adjacent is a label reading "Designed & TailoredExclusively for ATLANTA HAWKS" and "RISE +2 INSEAM +2". Inside is a 100% Polyester materialstag and "1996-97' year tag. The uniform set displays appropriate game wear with fraying on the interior. One-of-a-kind piece from a perennial basketball star best known for his clutch performances at Duke. Laettner played 13 NBA seasons with six teams and finished with career averages of 12.8 points and 6.7 rebounds.
