Christian Laettner starred on Duke's National Championship teams in 1991 and 1992 then further cemented his place in basketball history with his selection to the 1992 Olympic “Dream Team”. Offered here is Laettner’s signed 1992 Joe Lapchick Memorial Award presented by St. John’s University to the Outstanding College Basketball Player of 1992 - Christian Laettner. Lapchick was the longtime coach at St. John's (1936-47 '56-65) as well as the New York Knicks (1947-56) and was a member of the original Boston Celtics (ABL) as a player from 1923-28. He was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame in 1966 .The trophy is 27” tall and weighs 10 lbs. made primarily of wood with a silver-plated cup and basketball player silhouette on top. Laettner has signed the piece with “Christian Laettner -32 – Duke" in black sharpie.
