In 1988, Christian Laettner participated in the 15th annual Captial Classic All-Star game, the nation's longest-running high school all-star game preceding the McDonald's All-American game. Christian represented the United States All-Stars who defeated the Capital All-Stars by a score of 112-83. A remarkable aspect of this game is that it showcased the talents of 13 players who would go on to play in the NBA.

"The Capital Classic is the nation's most legendary high school basketball All-American game. Since 1974, it has been a beacon in the Washington, DC community, showcasing some of the nation's top high school basketball talent. The game has become a stepping stone for many college All-Stars, NBA All-Stars, and Basketball Hall of Fame recipients."

The Capital Classic at one time was sponsored by McDonald's; the event underwent a name change in 2002 when it briefly partnered with Nike, becoming the Jordan Brand Capital Classic. However, Nike and The Capital Classic ended their collaboration shortly after, leading to the creation of Michael Jordan's own Jordan Brand Classic in 2005. The Capital Classic is still played today in the Washington D.C. area" (https://thecapitalclassic.com/ )

Laettner had a fantastic high school career in Buffalo, NY, and went on to have arguably the most successful college career in NCAA history at Duke under the mentorship of Coach K. After being selected third overall by the Timberwolves in the 1992 NBA draft, Laettner had a 13-year career in the NBA and was part of the 1992 Olympic gold medal "Dream Team".

Presented here from his personal collection is Christian's game worn and signed 1988 Capital Classic All-Star jersey. The white mesh #42 jersey with a patriotic color scheme has his name on the back. All letters and numbers are done in blue. Tagged by Champion on the left front tail with a size XL label, the jersey shows light wear appropriate for single-game usage. Laettner has signed the front with his number "42" inscribed in 8-9/10 blue marker.

Comes with a letter from Laettner himself. An SCP rep witnessed Christian's autograph, so we guarantee it to pass any third-party authentication.
