A 20-year-old Cassius Clay wins by a fourth-round TKO (just as predicted by the brash Clay) against legendary heavyweight Archie Moore in Los Angeles, running his professional log to a promising 16-0 following his gold medal performance at the 1960 Olympics in Rome. Clay was still a couple of years away from his first epic match with Sonny Liston; Moore was all of 46 years old and at the end of one of the most storied careers in boxing history, a man who boxed over nearly a 30-year span and was the reigning Light Heavyweight Champion for much of the decade of the 1950's. Moore would end up with a 185-23-10-1 log for his career, which included a record 131 knockouts from "The Old Mongoose," ultimately regarded as one of the greatest punchers in history. He had even trained Clay for a brief period in San Diego, but ran into a little difficulty in getting the youngster to follow directions. These red Seyer Professional gloves are in great condition, showing only the expected fight use and are otherwise intact and problem free (no laces right glove, a portion with left). The Seyer Professional tags on each are in good condition, with only the anticipated staining on each and a tiny tear of approximately ¼-inch on the right one. Dundee signed in black marker inside the glove. Above Dundee’s autographs are ballpoint pen markings that are difficult to determine precisely but seemingly indicate the date and location of the Moore fight, along with Dundee’s well-known penchant for offering predictions before the first bell.

Comes with Letter of Authenticity from Angelo Dundee on his personal letterhead.
