Carmen Berra was the longtime wife of New York Yankees Hall of Famer Yogi Berra. They were married for 65 years. This lot features a beautiful sterling silver compact case that was presented to Carmen Berra following the Yankees ’52 season when the team finished with a record of 95–59 winning their 19th pennant finishing two games ahead of the Cleveland Indians. In the World Series the Bronx Bombers defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers in seven games marking their fourth consecutive World Series win tying the record they had set during 1936–1937-1938–1939. The compact features “Carmen” in raised lettering across the top of the case just above a raised depiction of the Yankees logo surrounded by text reading: “WORLD CHAMPIONS 1952.” A small ruby finishes off the cover design. A small crack exists on the inside mirror although everything else remain intact. This item comes from Yogi Berra’s personal collection with a signedletter from an authorized family member of the Yogi Berra Estate.
