Not since the Boston Celtics did it in the 1960’s had an NBA team ever won three straight titles until the Los Angeles Lakers turned the trick from 2000 to 2002. Led by the likes of All-NBA big man Shaquille O’Neal and superstar Kobe Bryant, the Lakers defeated the Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Nets in back-to-back-to-back trips the NBA Finals.
This lot features an authentic, two-toned (purple and gold) L.A. Lakers Nike short sleeve shooting shirt (size L) that’s been signed in black Sharpie across the chest area by seven team members from that era including the phenomenal Bryant. Other signatures include Rick Fox, Robert Horry (5), Brian Shaw (20), Mark Madsen (35) and Slava Medvedenko.
The half-zip polyester top includes the official red, white and blue NBA embroidered logo on the right breast area and the official Lakers embroidered team logo on the center of the chest. On the left inseam is a flag tag with the shirt materials and washing instructions. In the rear collar is a Nike manufacturer’s tag that reads “MADE IN KOREA” size “L.” On the front left tail is the Nike manufacturer's tag with size “L” flanked by both the “Los Angeles Lakers” logo and the “NBA Authentics” logo, both of which are presented upside down. The shooting shirt, which could be team-issued based on the tagging, was not presented to us as game-worn and displays little to no wear. Its original recipient is unknown.
