This lot includes correspondence from August and Sept. 1953 (both typewritten and handwritten) between baseball historian and statistician Karl Wingler. Eleanor Gehrig (Lous widow) and Gehrig family friend Jules Bues. The gist of the correspondence is in obtaining factual background information on Lou Gehrig and as well as an attempt to secure and autograph of the famed Iron Horse for official records. It include a handwritten and signed note from Eleanor Gehrig explaining that she has no autographs on hand from her late husband to share. The note includes this passage from her: Sorry I havent an autograph. I auctioned all those I had left during the war for War Bond Drives. Interesting look back at information pertain to the late great Lou Gehrig.
