Truly remarkable artifacts from a legendary figure in Mexican sports in the 1940's and 1950's. He was a halfback and quarterback for Poly Tech of Mexico City and as a runner average nearly eight yards per carry. His passing average was nearly 28 yards and he averaged 38 yards on punt returns. Fans knew him as "Pibe" which means "little boy" which hardly conforms to his prowess on the gridiron. Offered here is a circa 1950's MacGregor red leather helmet. It has 6 7/8 and 7 stamped on a white leather strip down the middle of the helmet; it shows considerable game use and wear but no serious conditions beyond a face guard having been removed. the No. 21 jersey shows enough wear for a battalion of football players but yet remains whole and largely intact with numerous tears stains repairs scratches and perhaps a drop of blood or two. Also included are 30-inch red wool legging socks that clearly show game use but didn't take nearly the battering that the shirt did. Remarkable items from a key figure in Mexican sports lore. Comes with a Letter of Authenticity from the Helms/LA 84 Collection.
