Circa 1950 Hollywood Stars of the Pacific Coast League durene "summer weight" jersey game worn by manager Fred Haney. Durene a white cotton-rayon fabric was used at the time for both hockey and football jerseys. The short sleeved collarless baseball uniforms were meant to be cooler and went along with the short pants experimented with by the Stars. These unique uniforms were only worn on weekends and for just a two year period. From 1943 through 1948 Haney was the radio play-by-play broadcaster for the Hollywood Stars and Los Angeles Angels. Taking the Stars over as manager in 1949 he proceeded to to lead them to a pair of PCL Championships over his 4 year tenure. His high point as a manager came in 1956-59 with Milwaukee where he led the Braves to a pair of 1st and 2nd place finishes winning the World Series in 1957. Jersey has large dark blue with red trim Hollywood Stars felt logo sewn on left breast with large felt 12 in blue with red trim sewn on the back. Blue trim at both sleeves. Pair of snap buttons at front top. Wilson size 42 tag sewn in back of collar. Jersey exhibits moderate to heavy use. Pair of holes at shoulders and other smaller holes below might have been caused by museum mounting. Very rare and beautiful Hollywood Stars Pacific Coast League jersey!
