This is a striking Depression-era hockey sweater from the American Hockey Association a minor league professional organization that existed from 1926 to just after the beginning of World War II. The classic sweater reveals significant wear amid its aged red white and blue wool alternating sections its blue shoulders adorned with 24 white felt stars divided equally front and back (11 on each side and one on each shoulder). "FLYERS" is sewn across the front in red-on-blue felt lettering that remains in remarkable condition eight decades later. The No. "6" is affixed to the back in the same configuration and in the same outstanding condition. As might be expected the heavy wool shirt has numerous holes throughout and extensive team repairs most notably on the lower sleeves. Simply a marvelous artifact from the early days of professional hockey in the U.S.
