While most Lou Gehrig photographs capture the great man with a serious or stoic expression on his face, this outstandingly candid image shows Lou in a lighter moment, smiling broadly and leaning on one of his bats. Ideally, this is the photograph that was chosen to have Gehrig sign and personally inscribe for a fan. Lou has signed the photo “To Tony – With Kindest Personal Regards Cordially Lou Gehrig.” Gehrig’s compact slanted script stands out boldly against the warm tones of the photograph. Due to the mounting of the photo, we have been unable to identify it as a Type I or II without dismantling the 12x14" frame. The photo, likely measuring 7x9" within the matting, comes with a JSA LOA.
