Offered here is a menu from Jack Dempsey's Broadway Restaurant on Broadway near 49th Street in New York City. The restaurant opened in 1935 and was once considered an American institution before closing in 1974. The legendary boxer, who reigned as World Heavyweight Champion from 1919-26, was often on hand to greet guests, sign autographs, pose for pictures, and hold court with people from all walks of life. Dempsey has signed this circa late 1930s - early '40s luncheon menu from his restaurant in black ink at the bottom of the front page. All but three of the lunch options on the inside are under $1, showing how far inflation has come. Try getting a meal under $20 on Broadway nowadays. The menu has significant creasing and wear from handling and age. Comes with a full LOA from Beckett for Demsey's autograph.
