This vintage red and blue stitched OAL (Johnson) baseball was single signed on sweet spot by Hall of Fame legend Ty Cobb. Manufacturer stamping on the ball -- specifically "Signature of Quality" added to the Reach trademark logo -- dates the ball to 1925-26 when the Georgia Peach was nearing the end of his glorious playing tenure with the Detroit Tigers. The penned autograph (color now brown) has faded to a 3-4/10 rating in our book yet two key elements make this ball particularly appealing for collectors. One Cobb signed on the sweet spot which he rarely did. And two he did not personalize it as he was prone to do for fans or friends. The ball itself is Shellac-free with clear manufacture stamps and an array of white scuff marks throughout. There is a rather large brownish stain on the west panel and some spot toning as well. Includes full LOAs from JSA and PSA/DNA.
