Offered is an extraordinarily scarce 1920s countertop advertising sign issued in promotion of the A. J. Reach Company's line of catcher's mitts. This is one of the only examples of this particular Reach advertising sign that has ever been presented at auction, and, it presents beautifully with a crystal clear image of a catcher awaiting the throw at home while a runner comes charging toward the plate. Both the catcher's mitt and a bat lying on the ground promote the Reach brand. The text along the top gives the slogan "A Sure Out! - It's a Reach." A 1922 copyright date appears in the lower left corner. Any original baseball advertising pieces from the 1920s are hard to come by. The sign itself is 16" x 20," and is framed and mounted behind UV protective glass. So far as our consigner and SCP knows, this is the only one in existence. Overall, the sign presents in excellent condition, with only a few surface flaws from the test of time.
