Hall of Famer Sam Crawford played 19 years in the majors (1899-1902 with Cincinnati; 1903-1917 with Detroit). He retired with a lifetime batting average of .309, hitting a career-best .378 in 1911. This offered Sam Crawford Spalding professional model ash bat (35" and 38.1 oz.) is un-cracked with ball marks visible on all sides of the barrel. Cleat marks and a few green bat rack streaks can be seen on the left barrel. There are numerous small depressions that we will attribute to general use. Additionally, if the bat was indeed used by Crawford, these small depressions can be attributed to post player use after the bat was gifted by Crawford. Stamped on the bottom of the knob is the familiar Spalding Trademark. While actual game use can cannot be confirmed by Crawford, the bat comes with a letter from the family of the original recipient documenting it as a gift from Crawford in the mid-to-late 1930's when he was umpiring in the Pacific Coast League. Full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA with a GU 6 grade.
