The career of Herb Pennock spanned 22 years (1912-34) during which he was one of the best pitchers of his generation, helping lead the Philadelphia Athletics, Boston Red Sox, and later the New York Yankees to a combined six World Series titles. Here, the Hall of Fame southpaw is pictured as a very young man with Connie Mack's A's, circa 1912-14, showcasing a determined look on his face that was a sign of great things to come.

This divine original portrait of Pennock, dating to his rookie era, was captured by the Brown Brothers, America's first stock photo agency formed in New York City in 1904 by Arthur and Charles Brown. A Brown Brothers stamps appears on the reverse. Aside from diagonal creases on the top left and bottom right corners, it has been very well-preserved and displays pinpoint image sharpness of the highest quality.
