By virtue of his flawless playmaking skills NBA Hall of Fame point guard Bob Cousy was nicknamed Houdini of the Hardwood. In his 13 seasons as a member of the Boston Celtics the team claimed the NBA title six different times. Twice the man called Cooz was named MVP of the leagues annual All-Star Game (1954 and 57) and he was named league MVP in 57 as the Celtics won it all with Cousy averaging 20.6 points and 7.5 assists per game. He finished his career with 6955 assists which ranked him first at the time but now ranks him 15th on the all-time list. This lot includes an impressive original black-and-white water-color painting of Cousy (No. 14) in action with the Celtics by well-known sports artist James Fiorentino. The painting was initially used for a special trading card set aptly called The Fiorentino Collection that was released by The Upper Deck Company in 2001. The 12 wide by 18 high painting which was once on display at the National Basketball Hall of Fame comes beautifully framed and matted and paired with one of the Upper Deck cards inside an overall presentation that now measures 18.5 wide by 28 high. A terrific piece of art featuring one of the NBAs most-talked-about playmakers in history.
