A native New Yorker, comedian Billy Crystal’s affection for his childhood hero Mickey Mantle is legendary. He famously outbid former Yankee pitcher David Wells at a Sotheby’s auction to acquire one of Mantle’s game used baseball gloves for $239,000. Crystal claims he values it more highly than a Picasso painting that he owns.
The offered item suggests that the admiration between Crystal and Mantle was mutual. This OML (Selig) baseball has been inscribed by Crystal, “To Mick – From Your Biggest Fan Billy Crystal.” All blue ball point writing rates 9/10 and the ball is in clean, unused NM condition.
