Bill Wambsganss whose name occasionally appeared in box scores as Bill Wamby is celebrated in baseball lore as the man who made the only unassisted triple play in World Series history.

The feat occurred in the 1920 Fall Classic with Wamby playing for the Cleveland Indians.  With runners on first base and second base he caught a sharp line drive that had been hit just to the right of second by Clarence Mitchell of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Then Wambsganss stepped on second to double up Pete Kilduff and easily tagged out Otto Miller who had been on first.

Wambsganss was the Indians' regular second baseman from 1914 to 1923. He remained with the Indians until being sent to Boston in 1924. He finished with Philadelphia in 1926 batting .352 in 54 games.

Wambsganss has signed the side panel of this clean OAL (Mac Phail) baseball and added his detailed notation of his famous play in black felt pen.  The signature and inscription rate 9/10 minimally and the ball is blemish-free with a few small spots of toning not affecting the signed panel.
