Bill Moose Skowron was a popular first baseman for the New York Yankees from 1954 to 1962. He helped the Yankees win four World Series during his tenure then was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1963 and helped them win it all that same season. His next three years were spent playing first base for the Chicago White Sox a team he would eventually help post retirement by serving in its community relations department from 1999 until his death in 2012. He wound up hitting 28 home runs during the course of his three-plus seasons in the Windy City.
This lot includes a Skowron-signed 1988 Chicago White Sox home coachs uniform a signed 1960s style White Sox throwback uniform and a signed White Sox black batting practice jersey. The 1988 coachs nylon uniform shows some wear with proper tags on the waistband of the size 40 Rawlings pants indicating Set 1 from the 88 season with Skowron sewn into the tag. The accompanying size 48 Rawlings jersey has White Sox in script lettering spelled across the front in blue with red outline and includes dirt stains across the front. Skowron has signed the front of the jersey in back fine-point marker: Bill Moose Skowron #14. The 1960s style Throwback pinstriped uniform is made of 100% nylon and includes the official Sand-Knit MacGregor Sporting Goods tags that also include the wording Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Chicago White Sox. The size 40 pants include Moose Skowron #14 written in black fine-point marker on the back of the waistband. A three-inch vertical tear can be found on the front of the left leg. The size 46 Sand-Knit Medalist nylon jersey is in pristine condition with Sox spelled vertically on the left front of the jersey with Skowrons signature just below it in black marker: Bill Moose Skowron #14. The black White Sox batting jersey is made of 100% polyester shows little wear but includes Skowrons signature in black marker on the Sox team emblem on the left front: Bill Moose Skowron #14. The Authentic Collection Majestic Athletic jersey is size 50. Memorable baseball keepsakes from one of Chicagos beloved sons.
