In 1953 the year before Bill Moose Skowron would make his Major League debut for the New York Yankees the Bronx Bombers won their 16th World Series title and the teams fifth straight Fall Classic championship. Skowron's good friend and teammate Hank Bauer had this ring made for Skowron in the decade or so after the Yankees' 1953 World Series title. The Yankees championship rings from the 1950s and 60s were all produced with similar designs but the celebration of their five-peat dynasty prompted one of the most special rings ever made with the central 50-point diamond incorporated into a raised number "5." The face also features a finely crafted laurel-leaf motif and a border of raised lettering that reads "NEW YORK YANKEES WORLD CHAMPIONS." The year "1953" and New York's top-hat emblem are displayed on both shanks also in raised relief along with very detailed laurel-leaf accents. The band interior is engraved William J. Skowron Jr. in script and stamped Balfour 14k. The size 10¾ ring is in excellent overall condition and shows very little wear.
