Beautiful 34" by 11" by 9" Hillerich & Bradsby Co. Silver Slugger Award trophy given to San Diego Padre catcher Benito Santiago as a member of the 1987 Sporting News National League Offensive Team. Plaque honors Santiago as well as the other 8 position players selected. The National League Rookie of the Year for 1987 Santiago hit .300 with a .467 slugging percentage to go with his 18 HRs and 79 RBIs. Santiago has signed the trophy in 8-9/10 black felt tip pen on the back "Benito Santiago 1987 ROY". Wood base at bottom has some wear.
