The late great Babe Ruth had a prolific Major League Baseball tenure that included 714 career home runs a 60 home run season in 1927 (a record that stood for 34 years) and 2214 runs batted in. A member of the Baseball Hall of Fame’s original class of 1936 Ruth was a consummate showman who always tried to put on noteworthy performances in every game he played. This lot features an official National League (Frick) Spalding baseball autographed by a then-retired Ruth back in 1948. In fact the baseball is inscribed “March1948” thus indicating that Ruth penned this particular signature just five months prior to his passing on August 16 1948. Though the baseball certainlyreflects toning with age Ruth’s signature in blue ink remains strong and bold.Includes full LOA from PSA.
