Few moments in baseball history have managed to so wondrously merge the seemingly competing elements of fact and mythology as well as Babe Ruth's "Called Shot" in the 1932 World Series. An entire cottage industry sprang up - if not immediately then certainly over the years - in debating the merits of this heady moment when the most famous player in the game made his most audacious gesture. Often the determination about how you felt about it was heavily influenced by whether you were on the giving or receiving end of his historic blast. This lot neatly touches on some of that ambivalence. A vintage 14-by-11-inch scorecard offers glimpse at both the lineups involved and the times they lived in (ie. "Bring Back Beer and Employment" a small corner boxed advertisement on the scorecard urges readers); the scorecard is in nice condition but has a few of the expected small tears and some missing paper. The other three pieces aren't quite as old and boast essentially Ex-Mt to Nr-Mt condition: a 1997 First-Day Cover which fortuitously (used in its proper primary definition) has a 32-cent stamp adhered and an information card inside; a Nr-Mt condition General Electric Show' N Tell 45-rpm record in its 7-by-9-inch sleeve with cellophane intact; and last but certainly not least a pristine Joe Sewell single-signed OAL Bobby Brown baseball with Ruth's teammate adding inscriptions of "1932 World Series" on the sweet spot and "Babe Ruth called his shot" on another panel.

Ball accompanied by full LOA from JSA. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
