Here are three imposing and quite literally heavyweight awards from the Angelo Dundee personal collection even if one does pertain to a middleweight of some renown. The first item is a 4-inch in diameter glass paperweight that has a 3-inch in diameter silver medallion at its center. The engravings note the 40th anniversary of Carmen Basilio's defeat of Sugar Ray Robinson in 1957 with the medallion citing the Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota N.Y. and including an edition size of 88/100. The medallion is signed in the center in black Sharpie by Basilio. Item No. 2 is a 3-inch in diameter silver medal from the Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis with Angelo Dundee engraved on the back along with the date of Sept. 22 2008. At the center of the medal is the foundation's logo; the same logo appears alone on a 3/4-inch gold pin that is attached to the green-and-white 30-inch ribbon supporting the medal. Both the paperweight and the silver medal and ribbon (and pin) appear to be in essentially as-issued and problem-free condition. The final piece is a 20-oz. heavy metal "star" with a polished copper finish and felt back. The 4-inch in diameter piece has engravings "Angelo Dundee The Greatest from John Marshall Producer." The star is in excellent condition revealing only a bit of corrosion around the bottom edge and some light scuffing on the bronze finish.
