A truly electrifying player with a flair for the sensational Allen Iverson was an 11-time NBA All-Star and four-time scoring champion. He was one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history despite his small stature (listed at 6 feet). His regular-season career scoring average of 26.7 points per game ranks seventh all time and his playoff career scoring average of 29.7 points per game is second only to Michael Jordan. Iverson was also the NBA Most Valuable Player of the 2000–01 season and led his team to the 2001 NBA Finals the same season. As a class of 2016 nominee for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Iverson will soon have ‘Hall of Famer’ added to his resume.
The offered jersey was worn by Iverson on March 3 1999 in a game that saw him score 24 points in a 102-86 romp over the visiting Chicago Bulls at the First Union Center in Philly. On the left front tail of this white home jersey is the “Champion” manufacturer’s tag (Size 42) with “+2 Length” tag. Adjacent is the “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for Philadelphia 76ers 1998-99” tag. Across the front is the large “SIXERS” embroidered patch. Player number “3” appears on both the front and back. Player name “IVERSON” appears on back. All numbers and letters are done in black on red tackle twill. At the left chest is the official NBA embroidered logo. Overall the jersey shows light wear. Iverson has signed the back number "3" in 9/10 silver felt tip pen with the added date notation “3/3/99.”
Provenance: This jersey is consigned by a personal friend of Iverson’s who managed a restaurant the basketball star frequented. Iverson invited him to the March 3 1999 game and gave him a special access guest pass. He has provided a letter of provenance and included his dated ticket and guest pass from the night he received the jersey directly from Iverson.
