Large and varied collection of memorabilia and behind the scenes information concerning Al Kaline Day, held August 2, 1970 at Detroit's Tiger's Stadium. Included in the lot are four souvenier programs from the day, ranging G-EXMT in condition. A hoard of Al Kaline Day buttons. An engraved Zippo lighter to "Ray" inscription reads "I'll never forget this day, thanks, Al Kaline Aug 2, 1970", w/ Tigers logo on front of lighter case. Two sets of Al Kaline Day charms w/ figural Tiger and charm with Al Kaline Day in script and date of event on front and back. 11" by 14" photo of Al Kaline autographed and inscribed to "Stan Drall". Fifteen color photos from the day picturing Kaline and family on the field with Mel Torme. Several reel to reel audio tapes labeled from Al Kaline Day. A hoard of paperwork and details surrounding the event from the Tigers front office. This collection comes from Stan Drall, secretary of Al Kaline Day and contains communication between Tigers officials and Detroit area moguls for the planning and execution of Al Kaline Day. Seating charts, press releases, it's all here from start to finish. Hundreds of pieces of paper and inter-office communications regarding the day. Several autographed letters are included, one from AL Commissioner Joe Cronin, Baseball Commissioner Bowie Kuhn and Tigers announcer Ernie Harwell.
