This lot offers a Calvin Johnson autographed Detroit Lions game worn jersey photo-matched to a win versus the Green Bay Packers on September 21, 2014. The beautiful baby blue jersey shows excellent signs of game use as one can see with the Resolution Photomatching paperwork. The jersey features a large Calvin Johnson autograph on the rear “1” of the number “81” in bold, black permanent marker, making it an ideal location for display. Johnson had 6 catches for 82 yards during this Week 3 win. The jersey includes a “WCF” patch on the upper left-hand shoulder honoring the late Lions owner, William Clay Ford who passed away in 2014 after owning the team since 1963. The NFL Authentic patch on the inside of the jersey reads “2014” denoting the year. “GB” has been inscribed on the tagging as well, presumably by the team’s equipment manager denoting which game the jersey was worn during. An excellent game worn example from one of the best wide receivers to play in the NFL. Detroit would go on to win this game, 19-7 over Green Bay. “Megatron” was voted in the top five of the NFL’s Top 100 list three years in a row from 2012-2014. The question isn’t if, but when will he be enshrined in Canton.
This lot is accompanied by a full Beckett LOA (Cert. #: A27273) and a Letter of Photomatch from Resolution Photomatching (JC080420).
