Former New York Yankees Team Captain Derek Jeter retired at the end of the 2014 season after registering the most hits in team history: 3465. A consistent hitter he finished his 20-year career in pinstripes with a .310 batting average that included 544 doubles and 260 home runs. This lot features a game-used base from the the first game of the teams final 8-game homestand of 2014 the last leg of Jeter's farewell tour. On September 18th against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays the Yankees won 3-2 as Jeter went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the sixth inning which proved to be the last home run of his Hall of Fame bound career. This game-used first base was used during the ninth inning of play when the Yankees scored the winning run in walk-off style. The light gray rubber base which measures 15 wide by 15 high shows remnants of infield dirt on top and sports a pair of blue-and-white side panels touting two of Jeters all-time team record categories hits as well as games played. It is marked on the bottom in blue marker: 9/18/14 9th Inning 1st base. Jeter has autographed the top of the base in very thick black marker.

Includes LOA and COA from Steiner Sports as well as MLB Authentication (#HZ 286293). Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
