On August 4th, 2010, Alex Rodriguez joined a group of prestigious men as the New York Yankees third baseman became the seventh and youngest member ever to hit 600 home runs. The excellent power hitter was able to do this during the 2010 MLB season while racking up 30 home runs, 125 RBI’s, and 74 runs scored, all while batting .270 for the year. The Yankees made a playoff run in 2010 as well but fell short in the AL Championship.
It was the bottom of the first inning on a sunny, New York summer day when A-Rod got up to bat against Shaun Marcum of the Toronto Blue Jays. With Derek Jeter already on base and two outs already on the board, A-Rod came out ready to swing big. After going down to a 2-0 count, Rodriguez took a nice swing at an 85 mph pitch and slammed it over center field for his 600th career home run. After the beautiful swing, Rodriguez rounded the bases and met Jeter at home plate for a memorable hug and was met by his teammates on the field as the dugout cleared to congratulate him on his feat.
The Official Major League Allan H. Selig ball was pre-marked with “A 104” by Major League Baseball in anticipation of A-Rod reaching the 600 mark in one of his upcoming games. Rodriguez autographed the sweet spot of the ball with his signature and included three inscriptions of “600th HomeRun Baseball”, “#13”, and “Hit on 8-4-2010 @ Yankee Stadium.” Rodriguez joined the liking's of Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Ken Griffey Jr., and Sammy Sosa on this memorable day. The historic ball is accompanied by an MLB Authenticated hologram (FJ095971) as well as an LOA from Alex Rodriguez himself. Accompanied by a full LOA from Beckett (A53532)
