After going 4-for-7 during a late-season call-up in 2017, Miguel Andujar took over as the Yankees' starting third-baseman to begin the 2018 season. And the 23-year-old Dominican phenom had one of the finest rookie campaigns ever in pinstripes, batting .297 with 27 home runs, 92 RBI and 83 runs scored. In fact, he broke Joe DiMaggio's rookie record for doubles with 47 on his way to finishing second in the A.L. Rookie of the Year voting.
On August 19, 2018, New York hosted Toronto and Andujar got the Yankees on the board early when his first inning single knocked in Aaron Hicks. He would score later that inning on Greg Bird's grand slam. Andujar drove in another with a fielder’s choice groundout in the 6th, making it 8-2 Yanks. The Yanks went on to score twice more before the Blue Jays slunk back to their locker room 10-2 losers. Andujar donned this classic pinstripe jersey during his 2-RBI game. This is his first and only regular season rookie gamer to hit the auction block!
The jersey has the timeless intertwined “NY” in navy tackle twill on the chest and Andujar’s number “41” in the same format on the reverse. Proper Majestic size 44 tagging appears in the lower left front tail (peeling off due to the level of wear), with a Yankees team bar code tag below. The jersey shows outstanding evidence of game use with some dirt/pine tar stains, most noticeably on the back left side. The pinstripe crossover on the sleeve seams along with the alignment around the NY logo can be clearly photo-matched to our posted game image of Andujar congratulating Bird after his first inning grand salami.
