In a contest chock full of historical significance a Brett Gardner home run with two outs in the ninth inning provided Mariano Rivera with the 79th victory of his fabled career. Earlier in the game Alex Rodriguez who had missed most of the year while coming back from hip surgery hit a lead-off homer in the second his 648th career home run that pushed him past Stan Musial for fifth on the all-time RBI list with 1951. Another Yankee milestone occurred when Alfonso Soriano homered for his 2000th hit in the fourth inning. He connected off Justin Verlander as did Rodriguez.
This superb black-pinstripe home Yankees jersey was worn by Mariano in recording career Win No. 79 a fact attested to by Rivera himself in a fine blue Sharpie on the left from beneath the "NY" logo along with the inscription "Game Used Career Win 79" and the date. The Majestic-tagged jersey carries attached flag tags of "2013" and "46." Directly beneath is the unique New York Yankees/Steiner bar coding; Steiner and Major League Baseball authentication holograms are affixed to the Majestic tagging and on the "NY" logo. The silver and black MLB logo appears on the back of the collar; the jersey shows appropriate game use. A Rivera Win Jersey such as this is obviously many times more rare than a Save Jersey. In addition to its MLB pedigree the jersey comes with LOAs from Steiner Sports and PSA/DNA (auto.).
