A one-of-a-kind artifact from one of the most celebrated — and controversial — moments in basketball history, this 1992 USA Basketball Olympic Team Training credential was issued directly to Bill Walton on June 22-26, 1992, at the University of California San Diego. The orange credential — signed by Walton himself and listing his affiliation as "N.Y. Times" — was his access pass to the legendary Dream Team training camp sessions that preceded the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
This is the same camp in which the college All-Stars, coached by Mike Krzyzewski, famously defeated the Dream Team in a scrimmage — one of the most remarkable upsets in basketball history. Walton's presence at the camp as a media credentialed journalist placed him courtside for this historic moment. The credential is encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA (No. 85817443), with Walton's signature confirmed authentic. An extraordinary artifact connecting basketball's greatest amateur team with one of its all-time legendary players-turned-broadcasters, and directly tied to the mythologized "Dream Team scrimmage" game.
