For over a decade, Lionel Messi has been the world's best footballer. He has scored over 700 career goals combined for club FC Barcelona and his native Argentina for which he is the all-time scoring leader with 70 in 138 caps. He's won every award under the sun including 6 Ballon d'Or (FIFA World Player of the Year) honors, surpassing Portugal's Ronaldo for the most ever. At 32 years of age, Messi still has a lot more great soccer ahead of him and has at least one more chance to go after the World Cup title that has eluded him and Argentina since 1986.
Featured in this lot is a Lionel Messi match-issued Argentina jersey from the 2018 World Cup held in Russia. The black Argentina away shirt was issued for the first match played in Group D vs. Iceland on June 16, 2018. The Adidas, medium-sized jersey includes the embossed "Argentina - Iceland 16 June 2018 Moscow" notation between the AFA (Argentine Football Association) crest and the Adidas logo on the front, with Messi's number "10" pressed-on below in white. A light blue and white striped line pattern runs down the sides of the jersey. "MESSI" and his number "10" are pressed onto the back in white. Two patches are featured on the sleeves: "Living Football FIFA" patch in green is on the left; "FIFA WORLD CUP RUSSIA 2018" patch is on the right. The right front tail has the Adidas 2018 Authentic holographic patch.
Includes LOA from the son of the Brazil National Team's longtime kitman, who received this shirt as a gift from the Argentina National Team kitman.
